Pajarito Leadership Team

Pajarito Elementary School – Leadership Team

The Pajarito Leadership Team (PLT) includes the Principal, a Federation representative elected by Albuquerque Teachers Federation members at the school, teachers elected by teachers, and parent representatives of the school, and may include representatives of other bargaining units as defined in their respective negotiated agreements, and any other personnel deemed appropriate by the Leadership Team. 

The primary focus of the Leadership Team is to improve and support the teaching and learning process. The Leadership Team will utilize school-wide data to determine the next steps for instructional improvement while supporting goals and strategies necessary to implement the school’s Educational Plan for Student Success (EPSS). It is the Leadership Team's responsibility to work collaboratively with the whole staff to decide the content of teacher and staff professional development.

The Pajarito Leadership Team meets the   1st & 3rd Monday of every month at 4:00 in room 203.

Community School Council

COMMUNITY SCHOOL COUNCIL

The Community School Council (CSC) is a site based leadership team composed of key stakeholders such as parents, school staff, partner organizations, businesses, the coordinator and school administration. The CSC’s primary focus will be school activities, assemblies, after-school activities, evening activities, etc.

The Community School Council meet two times per month on afternoons from 4-5 pm on the opposite date of Pajarito Leadership Team. Meeting dates to be announced.

A community school is both a place and a set of partnerships between the school and other community resources. It’s an integrated focus on academics, health/social services, and youth and community development. Community engagement in schools leads to improved student learning, stronger families, and healthier communities.

The core principals of Pajarito Community School are:

  4. respect for diversity; and
  5. shared decision making.

The elements of Pajarito's Community School are a committed principal, a full-time coordinator, a site-based decision-making team (Community School Council) and a focus on using results and data to meet our goals.

The Community School Coordinator is one of the keys to a successful community school. They create, strengthen, and maintain the bridge between the school and community. The Coordinator is accountable to APS, the lead agency or grantors, the principal and the Community School Council (CSC). The role of the Coordinator is to guide initial and ongoing community needs and ensure that in-school and out-of-school programming is aligned to meet academic goals; work with Family Liaison to manage parent and community volunteers; guide culturally appropriate programming; be responsive to Pajarito's community, and implement site level resource development.

The Community School Coordinator often plays a dual role at the school: working inside, with staff members to identify barriers to learning along with potential solutions and to make sure that what happens in the community school programs extends and supports the school’s academic program; and outside, with members of the community, to engage and involve them in the community school and its success for students and families.
